The University of the Philippines Alumni Engineers Association in partnership with the Philippine Bicycle Demo & Expo and in coordination with the UP Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs Dr. Bo-ot will hold the first Pedal UP: Philippine Bicycle Demo 2023 on April 21-23, 2023 at the UP Sunken Garden.
Here are the list of activities:
(1) The Cancer Bus – All interested female employees of UP and UPIS can avail of the tests for cancer cells in the Cervix and Breast to be conducted by the Philippine Cancer Society. These tests normally cost P18,000.00 per test set. 100 slots will be allocated and pre-registration is required through the UPAE Secretariat Office. The Cancer Bus shall be onsite and operate on April 21, 2023. Test screening shall commence at 8:30am until 5pm.
(2) CPR and Bleed Control Orientation – UP Police, UP and UPIS faculty and staff participants in this 3-hour training will learn the basics of CPR and an orientation on bleed control from cuts and trauma. 40 slots will be allocated and pre-registration is required through the UPAE Secretariat Office. The Training-Orientation shall be conducted on a specific training tent onsite on April 21, 2023 and again on April 22, 2023. The hands-on seminar shall commence at 9 am until 12 nn of both days.
(3) Learn-to-Bike Training by John Hernandez, Gear Heroes – training for non-bikers to learn how to bike. 20 slots (per training session) for UPIS students and UP/UPIS Faculty and staff will be allocated and pre-registration is required through the OVCCA and UPIS Admin. 20 slots per session shall be provided free of charge to pre-registered employees of UP and UPIS. The organizer shall provide 4 bicycles and 4 helmets for the training. Participants can bring their own bicycles and safety gear. No helmet, no ride. The Training-Orientation shall be conducted in a specific training tent onsite on April 21, 2023 and again on April 22, 2023. The hands-on seminar shall commence at 3:30pm until 5:30pm of both days.
(4) Pedal UP 2023 UP and UPIS Bike Raffle! – 2 bicycles will be raffled off to UP Employees. 1 bicycle will be raffled off to UPIS Employees. The bicycles shall be donated for raffle by the event exhibitors and organizers. The bicycles shall have values between P8,000.00 to P20,000.00 per bicycle. The raffle for UPIS will be on April 21. Please let us know the best time for the raffle that day as the winners from UPIS must be in the event area to claim their prize.
For registration, kindly email to secretariat@upae.org the list of trainee personnel with the full names, UP/UPIS employee ID Nos., email address and mobile numbers on or before April 18, 2023. Pedal UP 2023 organizers will be requiring the participants to show their UP I.D. at the event.
