UP National Hydraulic Research Center, through its Director, Dr. Eugene C. Herrera, received the retrofitted wave flume from D-Group Systems Integrator, Inc. during the official turnover held on May 24, 2023. The activity was part of the implementation of the project entitled Feasibility Study and Detailed Engineering Design for the Proposed Seawall Alignment in the Municipalities of Minalabac, Pasacao, and San Fernando, Camarines Sur (Camsur Seawall FS & DED Project).
Led by its Project Leader, Dr. Eric C. Cruz of the UP College of Engineering Institute of Civil Engineering (UPCOE-ICE), the retrofitting was done primarily to address the needs of the on-going seawall study, more specifically with regards to the physical modelling that needed to be conducted to validate the proposed design parameters of the project. With this, an important equipment of the NHRC has been brought back to life, now ready to be used both for professional and academic purposes.
The Camsur Seawall FS & DED Project is being implemented by the University, through the UP National Engineering Center (UPNEC) and in cooperation with the UPNHRC for the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
