UP NEC was invited to share their expertise and insights on Energy and the Environment last 04 May 2024 by the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) for their Future Ready Academy initiative. Held at the PNOC Corporate Center in Taguig, the Future Ready Academy is composed of 30 Senior High School students from Taguig Science High School, Makati Science High School, Pasig City Science High School, and Sen. Renato “Compañero” Cayetano Memorial Science and Technology High School.
The goal of the Future Ready Academy is to instill competence, character, and critical thinking in future leaders, envisioning that these talented young students will lead energy related advocacies when they enter college next year. These students have been attending weekly lectures and discussions from top caliber resource persons from different fields of expertise to further enable them to understand the energy sector better. This week, UP NEC joined with Dr. Jeark Principe who introduced Renewable Energy, Prof. Rowaldo Del Mundo who gave an overview on the Philippines Electric Power System and Industry, and Dr. Lew Andrew Tria who discussed the Economic and Social Value Creation of Renewables.
Staying true to UP NEC’s mandate of contributing to national development through engineering solutions that utilizes the expertise of the academe, this enriching experience hopefully inspired these young people to pursue careers in the energy sector and contribute to the country’s sustainable development goals.
